HOW IS PVC MANUFACTURED?

PVC is a synthetic plastic-type. One of the common questions is how PVC is manufactured. Organic products substances are the main substances that are used in the production of plastics. PVC production starts with the distillation process in an oil refinery. In this process, the division of heavy crude oil creates fractions. Naphtha, which is one of the fractions, is the most important element in plastic production.

Thermoplastic PVC

There are many various types of plastic production; however, it is feasible to categorize them into two main polymer series. The definition of thermoplastics is re-hardening by melting and cooling after exposure to high temperatures. The second group is thermosets, which do not re-melt after solidification.

PVC takes place in the first group, which means that after freezing it could be re-melted. PVC is used in diverse fields and is a good example of thermoplastics. Due to its characteristics like re-melting and re-using, PVC is very favourable in various industries; moreover, industrial procedures are used in PVC production. Since the transformation of old, material into new material is carried out without any problems, PVC production is considered as fast.

Where is PVC Used?

Since the production rate of PVC is really fast and usage areas are wide, it is not only used in the production of doors and windows, which are the most common usage areas but also used in material coating processes and floor coating.
